Harel Frères Group (Harel Frères), whose origins date back to 1838, is a conglomerate established in Mauritius and operating regionally. Incorporated in July 1960, Harel Frères Limited is one of the major sugar companies in Mauritius, cultivating some 6,000 hectares of sugar cane land in the northern part of the island (out of a total of 7,000 hectares of land owned by Harel Frères). It has, throughout the years, diversified its activities from an essentially sugar-oriented company to one with interests in energy production, alcohol production, commercial distribution, property development, construction and financial services.

The shareholders of Harel Frères Limited, at a Special Meeting held on November 23, 2011, gave their agreement to the restructuring of the group and to its change of identity.

The Harel Frères group becomes Terra

The CEO of the Harel Frères group, Cyril Mayer, announced during a press conference the new name and the new identity of the group, which will henceforth be known under the name of 'Terra'. This rebranding completes a restructuring exercise which is subject to the approval of the shareholders on November 23rd next.

Tree planting by Fondation Harel Frères

In line with the International Year of Forests 2011 decreed by the United Nations, around thirty employees of the Harel Frères Group volunteered to plant some 40 endemic trees in 19 schools and NGOs of the northern region. Trees were also planted along a road that leads to the sugar factory and to the thermal power plant of Belle Vue.
